- Purpose of the site: The purpose of the site is to provide a meeting place for martial artists, to provide information to people interested in martial arts, and to promote martial arts in Norway.
- More Information:
"Kampforum is a site dedicated to Norwegian martial arts and artists. It is running Joomla with an SMF bridge for the discussion forum, ExtCalendar for the events calendar and it uses OpenSEF for SEF urls. Kampforum also has separate sections for each martial art style featured on the site, such as www.kampforum.com/karate/, www.kampforum.com/kung_fu/ etc.
Kampforum also features a clubmap using the google map component where people can register their martial art clubs throughout Norway. In a few weeks people have registered over 160 clubs on the map. I have written a small component that generates statistics from the clubmap database, that shows which martial art styles are the biggest and which regions in Norway have the most registered clubs. I have also modified the forum so that people can register which club(s) they are members of in their profile, and I have generated statistics on that as well. (phew!) All in all I'd say it's a community site."
